The hunters were more powerful and held them off., U.S. government sent 3,000 soldiers to block all escape routes for the Natives, forcing them to stay in their reservations. - The natives did not have time to hunt or rest their animals. Many Natives died in battle. , At the battle of Palo Duro Canyon, Natives were trapped and forced to escape on foot. All belongings, teepees, horses, and mules were killed/destroyed. - Chief Quannah surrendered, which ended the war. All natives moved to Indian Territory. Plains Indians set up schools. ,
