Right Person - Check full name, date of birth and first line of address and/or hospital number, Right Medication - Check the prescription to ensure you have read it correctly. Check that you have the correct medication., Right Dose - Check that the medication does not fall above or below the normal dose range., Right Route - Check if it is oral, injected, inhaled, suppository etc, Right Time - Make sure you give it at the right time and that there is enough time between doses., Right Documentation - Ensure you have the correct prescription and that you document your administration of the medication., Right Reason - Ensure it is for the right reason! If your patient is on a medication that does not fit (eg a heart medication when they have no heart problems) always question it, especially if it is new., Right Response - Once a medication is given, check that it is working. Whether that is a pain relief, antibiotic or antihypertensive.,
