Trigger for seizure: Stress/sleep loss, Illness/fever, Visual disturbances, Electrolyte or metabolic issues, Undermedicated/noncompliant in regimen, Care of patient having a seizure: Time duration of seizure, Document everything that happens to patient, Monitor VS, cardiac/respiratory status, for any neurological changes/issues, Place in side-lying position as seizure subsides, Siderails up and clear objects around patient for safety, Loosen clothing (particularly around neck), Management of Status Epilepticus: Call RRT/911 when it occurs, Establish airway/draw ABGs, Administer IV lorazepam or diazepam, Transfer to ICU, Things included in Seizure Precautions: Oxygen set-up at bedside, Suction set-up at bedside, Padded siderails, Large bore patent IV inserted, Call light within reach, Bed locked & in lowest position, Patient education: Wearing medical bracelet, Adhere to medication regimen, Caregiver/family education on how to manage seizure & when to call for EMS, Know driving laws, Avoid excessive EtOH, fatigue, loss of sleep, Eat regularly, If childbearing, know about medication & contraceptives, Have someone with them when going swimming,
