Erik was an athletic child who lost his vision in his early teens., Erik is as tough as any mountain climber, even though he is blind., At first, Erik insisted that he could do as well as any teenager., After accepting his disability he discovered the sport of wrestling., Then he began climbing mountains when he was sixteen years old., After a lot of training he became an expert mountain climber., When he climbed Mount Everest, his teammates tied bells to their jackets so Erik could locate them., The brain does not function as clearly as normal at high altitudes because of the lack of oxygen., Near the top of Mount Everest, Erik became the leader because the vision of all the climbers was reduced., Erik proved that his disability was not as important as his ability.,
