For example a male manager can not make more than a female with the same duties, Omnibus Housing Act 1965 - Increased funding to help poor, disabled and elderly buy homes or get low rent. Also money for colleges and universities., Corporation for Public Broadcasting 1967 - Created a non-profit corporation to provide Americans with free access to public TV (PBS), Clean Air Act Amendment 1965 - Government created emission standards for motor vehicles to help environment and health of Americans., Water Quality Act 1965 - Recognized water pollution as a problem and created water quality standards that required states to clean up lakes and rivers., Truth in Packaging Act 1965 - Set standards for labelling packages to prevent lies about food products and provide honest description of ingredients and package sizes, ational Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act - Created a program to set safety standards to protect public from accidents resulting from design or operation of motor vehicles., Medicare/Medicaid Act 1965 - Established medical insurance for the elderly and for people with low incomes., Economic Opportunity Act - Created programs to fight the war on poverty. Included job training and education so at risk Americans could get better jobs., Revenue Act 1964 - Cut income taxes about 20%. and lowered tax rates at the top levels. Also reduced taxes on businesses., Civil Rights Act of 1964 - Banned discrimination in public places, education, and employment based on race, color, religion, sex or national origin, Voting Rights Act 1964 - Prohibits racial discrimination in voting. Banned literacy tests and provided help for people to register to vote., Immigration and Nationality Act - Abolished quotas based on nationality and set up system that allowed people into the US based on what they could contribute most to the US., Exec Order 11246 - Equal Employment Opportunity--no discriminating in hiring on the part of US government contractors for employment based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation or national origint, Amendment 24 (1964) - Banned Poll taxes from state or federal groups.
