1) Waiting, waiting, waiting for the train, looking down the long, gray tracks. I think I heard the train. I see the train! (Point to the long, gray tracks) a) b) c) d) 2) Here it comes zooming down the tracks. Is this our train? There is no huff, no puff, no chug, no choo. The diesel train is zooming through. FAST. Whizzzzzzzzzz. (Point to the train zooming by.)) a) b) c) d) 3) Hold onto your hat. Cover your ears. Feel the platform shake. Whizzzzzzzzzz. It is gone! That was not our train. (Was that our train?) a) b) c) d) 4) Looking- looking- looking down the tracks. Is this our train? With a huff, and a puff, and a chug, and a choo, the long, long freight train is rumbling through. (Point to the freight train) a) b) c) d) 5) Round black wheels turning, clicking. Round black wheels clicking, clacking, turning on the tracks. Whooo! Whooo! Here comes the last car now- the little red caboose! That was not our train. (Point to the caboose) a) b) c) d) 6) Looking- looking- looking down the tracks. I hear a train. I see a train coming down the tracks. Slow. Slow. The train is slowing down. THIS IS OUR TRAIN! It is coming to a stop. Right on time. (point to people getting ON a train) a) b) c) d) 7) "All aboard. Step up, step up," calls the conductor. (Which one is the conductor?) a) b) c) d) 8) Hurry, let's find some seats. I want a seat near the window. "All aboard," calls the conductor again. We are moving. We are on our way to town. (Point to seats on a train.) a) b) c) d) 9) "Tickets, please. Have your tickets ready, please,". I don't have a ticket I am too little. There is no charge for me. I ride free! (Point to train tickets.) a) b) c) d) 10) Looking- looking- looking through the window at cows and barns. (What did I see?) a) b) c) d) 11) At farms and horses, and houses and trees. (What did I see?) a) b) c) d) 12) WHIZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. There goes a train on another tack. We are going to town. That train is going back. (Which train is whizzzzing by?) a) b) c) d) 13) Our train is slowing down. It is stopping at a station. Is our ride over so soon? (Do you think it is their stop?) a) b) c) d) 14) No. We are stopping at the next station on the line. Picking up passengers right on time. (Point to people getting on and off the train.) a) b) c) d) 15) "All aboard! All aboard!" The train is leaving the station. The big gates are up; the big gates go down. Stop! Cars. Stop! trucks. Stop! People. Everybody stop! Our train is coming through. (Point to the railroad crossing.) a) b) c) d) 16) Looking- looking- looking through the window at cranes and trains, rivers and barges. (What did they see?) a) b) c) d) 17) factories and smoke, coal and sand, new cars, old cars, broken cars in junk yards. (What did they see?) a) b) c) d) 18) Looking- looking- looking around the train. People are reading. People are talking. Shhh...this man is sleeping, (What is the man doing?) a) b) c) d) 19) and a lady is getting a drink. I am thirsty too! (What is the lady getting?) a) b) c) d) 20) I'm sliding, bumping, rocking, while I'm walking up the aisle. Woops around the curve we go. My cup of water is shaking and spilling. It keeps going up my nose. (Point to the spilling water!) a) b) c) d) 21) Riding- riding- riding down the tracks, over a bridge, and through a long, dark tunnel. Dark as night. (What would it look like in the tunnel?) a) b) c) d) 22) Slow, slow, the train is slowing down. (Why is the train slowing down?) a) b) c) d) 23) Slow. Slow. Stop. "Last stop! Everybody off." WE ARE HERE IN TOWN. (Where are they?) a) b) c) d)
