Isolation : Position of the contacts must be clearly visible or indicated , Inadvertent or unintentional closure shall be prevented , Means to prevent inadvertent or unauthorised opening , Presence for multi pol devices but not excluding adjacent single pole devices , Devices shall be clearly identified by posistion or durable marking to identify the installation or circuit isolates , Switching for Mechanical Maintenance : Must be capable of switching the full line current; it does not need to break the neutral conductor, Should be manually operated, Inadvertent or unintentional switching on shall be prevented, Switching devices to be suitably placed and with durable marking, to be readily identifiable, If a switch, it need not break the neutral conductor, A plug and socket‑outlet not exceeding 16A may be used, Emergency Switching : Must be capable of switching the full load current taking in to account stalled motor current, Should be one switching device or a combination of equipment activated by a single action, Hand‑operated devices preferable and where a circuit breaker or contactor is used, shall operate on de‑energisation, Hand‑operated devices shall be clearly identified preferably by colour (red) and be readily accessible, Shall be latched in the ‘off’ position and re-energisation requires a conscious action by the operator to restore the supply, Shall be placed so as to be readily identifiable and in a convenient position, A plug and socket‑outlet or similar device must not be used, Functional Switching : Functional switching devices shall be suitable for the most onerous duty they are intended to perform, Functional switching devices may control the current without necessarily opening the corresponding poles, Off‑load isolators, fuses and links shall not be used for functional switching, Firefighter's Switching : Shall be easily visible, accessible and marked in a posistion where it can be seen clearly by a person standing on the ground , ON/OFF positions in letters not less than 10mm high ,
