1) I'm so glad summer is coming. School is almost out. I love summer. Each year, we take a vacation at the beach. We spend seven days at a house we rent. It is right across the street from the beach. It has a big deck off the second floor. We often eat our meals up there and watch the waves. Each morning, we go across the street and spend a few hours at the beach. We ride on body boards, swim, and build sand castles. In the afternoon, we sometimes go shopping or to a water park. Sometimes in the evening, we go back and walk on the beach. We collect shells. Most people went to the large shopping mall just outside the city limits or shopped in the main city itself. However, a few brave entrepreneurs decided that our town had potential, and they opened some unique shops. They scheduled some special events like concerts and art fairs, which brought more people to the main street. As more people came, more businesses opened. We had seen several added in just the last year, including a tea room, coffee shop, antique store, an old-fashioned general store. The most recent addition was A Second Home, a store run by a local charity that sells used items and clothing. Now, our town is an interesting place to be. a) The writer's town has developed into an interesting place to be. b) The most recent addition to the town is a shop called A Second Home. c) People love gathering on Main Street. d) The writer's town is boring. 3) Jane was asked to write a poem. Every summer, she does puppet plays with the children in the neighborhood. Each year, she buys one or two more puppets. Now, she has 10. She has three girl puppets and four boy puppets. She also has a beaver, a lion, and a teddy bear puppet. One of the girl puppets has red hair. The others have blonde-or yellow-hair. The boy puppets each wear a different color baseball hat.
