AVID Elementary teachers - Understand and implement AVID methodologies, materials, and strategies in classroom instruction in order to raise the level of student engagement, academic achievement, and student agency. They are committed to the AVID philosophy that all students should have equal access to rigorous learning, hold high expectations for students, and model a growth mindset., Elementary Counselor - Communicates regularly with administrators, teachers, and parents/guardians regarding the support and success of all students. They also establish links with counselors at middle school sites to identify students for the secondary AVID Elective., AVID Elementary Administrators - Committed to the philosophy of AVID and lead the campus in developing an educational community that supports rigorous academic preparedness, opportunity knowledge, and student agency for all students through AVID’s four Schoolwide Domains of Instruction, Systems, Leadership, and Culture. They maintain an active and participatory AVID Site Team, monitor and support the AVID instructional components, and develop a culture of college and career readiness for all students. They also coordinate AVID with other categorical and core curriculum programs to provide alignment., AVID Elementary Educational Support Staff - Support teachers in aligning AVID with other instructional initiatives or teaching and learning systems used in the school. They assist teachers in disaggregating student data, visit implementing AVID Elementary classrooms, and support and promote the use of AVID strategies schoolwide., AVID Elementary Site Coordinator - Provides the leadership for the development and maintenance of an active AVID Site Team, overseeing certification and data collection and serving as the liaison between the principal, counselor, and teachers. They act as an advocate for AVID and provide professional learning regarding AVID methodologies for other staff members of the school and district., AVID Secondary Counselor - Promotes AVID as an elective and counsels students and parents/guardians on overcoming obstacles and breaking stereotypes. They work closely with the AVID Coordinator to develop a plan for articulation and recruitment of students for the AVID Elective. They communicate regularly with the AVID Coordinator, teachers, and parents/guardians regarding the progress of AVID Elective students, and they help support AVID implementation schoolwide., AVID Excel® Elective - Designated class for selected AVID Excel students, the AVID Excel Elective teacher sets high expectations for student achievement and monitors students’ progress while promoting the use of AVID Excel routines and best-practice emergent bilingual instructional practices in order to accelerate language acquisition and develop the three components of college and career readiness: rigorous academic preparedness, opportunity knowledge, and student agency. They are an active member of the Site Team, promoting the use of AVID Excel methodologies and strategies schoolwide., AVID Elective Teacher - Sets high expectations for student achievement and monitors students’ progress while promoting the use of AVID methodologies and best-practice instructional practices in order to develop the three components of college and career readiness: rigorous academic preparedness, opportunity knowledge, and student agency.
