Carry the microscope to your work area with one hand under the base and the other hand holding the arm, Plug the microscope in and turn the light switch on., Make sure the microscope is in the 4x objective (scanning lens)., Place the slide on the stage and make sure it is clipped in., Using the stage knobs (or your fingers if the microscope does not have them), move the slide until the specimen is lined up in the middle of the illuminated area of the stage., Look through the ocular lens. Start to clarify the image with the coarse focus knob., Once the image is almost clear, use the fine focus knob to make small adjustments, To increase magnification (zoom in), turn the nosepiece until you feel the next objective (10x) click into place., When you are finished viewing the slide, return to low power objective before removing the slide., When you are finished using the microscope, turn the light off, make sure your objective is on the scanning objective, then put the dust cover back on..
