Activate Relevant Knowledge - The teacher posts or project the following prompt at the beginning of class and ask students to discuss it in pairs: How do you commit new vocabulary terms to memory?, Teacher Input - Teacher models a think aloud as they write their explanation for the relationship among the words in each group, describing how each of the words that are connected by lines on the triangle relate, then how all three words relate. Refer to the glossary occasionally, to show students how they might use their glossaries during this activity., Student Active Participation - Once students understand the activity, the teacher has them work independently on creating as many Three-Way Ties as they can in about 10 minutes., Identifying Student Success - Teacher posts the following prompt at the end of class and asks students to discuss it with partners: "How did today’s activities help you learn more about the vocabulary terms we are studying?" , Monitor and Adjust  - The teacher walks around the room, a few times, checking in with individual students to see how they are progressing with the task.,
