Stamp Act - a law passed by the British government in 1765. It meant that all legal documents and printed papers used in the American colonies had to have an official stamp. The result was that every piece of paper the colonists used was taxed by the British, Sugar Act - provided for a strongly enforced tax on sugar, molasses, and other products imported into the American colonies from non-British Caribbean sources, Quartering Act - stated that Great Britain would house its soldiers in American barracks and public houses, Proclamation of 1763 - closing the land west of the Appalachian Mountains to settlement by Colonists. Couldn't afford to pay soldiers to protect colonists out west. This was a natural barrier, Townshend Acts - designed to tax goods imported into the Colonists, Intolerable Acts - the port of Boston was closed, town hall meetings were forbidden, and custom officers were tried in Britain , French and Indian War - "Seven Years War"  conflict between Great Britain and France over territory and waterways , Boston Massacre - 5 colonists were killed during a protest against British economic policies, First Continental Congress - formal meeting of delegates from the American colonies in 1774 to decide what to do about the mistreatment from the British, Lexington and Concord - first military battles of the Revolutionary War in Massachusetts, Second Continental Congress - acted like a government, needed permission from their home colonies before making decisions , Declaration of Independence - a statement that announced that the 13 Colonies were free from Great Britain,
