In the absence of spontaneous breathing, the machine delivers a controlled breath at a preset minimum rate and tidal volume or pressure, AIRWAY PRESSURE RELEASE VENTILATION (APRV) - Mode of mechanical ventilation that allows unrestricted, spontaneous breaths throughout the ventilatory cycle.
