Firsthand Account: Today was the worst day of my life. I got an F on my science paper. I'm so scared to tell my mom and dad., I woke up to the sound of planes flying overhead, so I went outside to watch. I was surprised to see that these were not our planes. Instead of an American flag on the wings, there was a big red sun. Suddenly I heard an explosion. The planes were attacking our ships in the harbor!, I was at the store with my mom to stock up on supplies. We got lots of soup, bread, and fruit. As we drove home, the first flakes began to fall. We hurried into the house and cranked up the heat. The snow fell nonstop all night. When I woke up the next morning, everything was buried under two feet of snow., Secondhand Account: On the morning of December 7, 1941, hundreds of Japanese planes swarmed over Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii. They released bombs and shot at the American ships in the harbor. Many ships were destroyed, and many lives were lost. The day after the attacks, the United States declared war on Japan., The teacher walked up and down the rows of desks and distributed the graded science tests. When students saw their grades, some whispered "Yes!" Others hung their head and sighed in frustration., One of the many massive blizzards to hit Colorado was in October of 1997. In one night, two feet of snow covered most of the the Front Range. The snow was wet and heavy. Many electrical lines were downed and some residents were without power for several hours.,
