Teachers help learners to achieve that by getting them to plan what they will include in a text before they write it., cohesion - Refers to a stretch of speech which is unified and structurally organised. The way spoken or written texts are joined together with grammar or lexis, e. g. conjunctions (Firstly, secondly), topic-related vocabulary, pronouns (e. g. it, them, this)., fluency - Being able to speak at a natural speed without stopping, repeating, or self-correcting. , functional language - Language that you need in different day-to-day situations. For example: greeting, introducing yourself, asking for or giving advice, explaining rules, apologising, or agreeing and disagreeing., hesitation - A pause before or while doing or saying something. Learners often do that if they are trying to find the correct words to say, because they need more time to think., initiating - Starting a new turn by introducing a new idea or a new development of the current topic., linking words - Words that join elements within a sentence or sentences within a text. , paraphrasing - Saying or writing something that you have read or heard but using different words., prompting - Instances when the interlocutor repeats, or uses a backup question or gesture in order to get the examinee to respond or make a further contribution., range - The variety of words and grammatical forms an examinee uses. At higher levels, examinees will make increasing use of a greater variety of words, fixed phrases, collocations and grammatical forms., repairing communication breakdown - Making an effort (or helping the other examinee) to continue conversation and achieve the original communication goal., repetition - Re-using the same idea instead of introducing new ideas to develop the topic., responding - Replying or reacting to what the other examinee or the interlocutor has said., self-correction - When learners correct language mistakes they have made., task completion - Focuses on how well the examinee has fulfilled the task, in other words, if they have done what they were asked to do.,
