I often wonder how someone can live in the middle of a desolate desert.  - depressingly empty or bare , Many times people spend time in solitude to meditate and contemplate which helps them focus their minds in a positive way.  - think deeply or carefully for a long amount of time, It was quite unfortunate that I spilled chocolate all over my neighbor's white couch.
